Alfia-Jade

On this week's segment of the Bollyhood series, we follow the gifted Poet Alfia-Jade on her rise to the creative industry as "things weren't always so simple" growing up as the ethnic minority.

We then discussed how this flamboyant character managed to present her first ever exhibition in central london on a topic very close to home; Mental Health, expressing these issues through fashion, poetry, illustration and visual arts.

As she tells us "It's something society acknowledges and chooses to carry on forgetting through the social barriers we are forced to accept, especially those of ethnic minority background and black males particularly!"

The successful exhibition had also consisted of an abstract short film 'Black men dont cheat' showcasing Black males masculinity, questioning the social expectations that society has created.
